Thomas Henry Hathaway, Jr., 84, passed away December 9, 2021.  He is preceded in death by his parents and his son, Michael Thomas Hathaway.

Thomas Was born in Savannah, GA in 1937.  He graduated from Odum High School, Odum, GA in 1955 and held an Associate's Degree in Engineering from Savannah Technical College.

He was a veteran of the United States Army, Special Forces, having proudly served his country in Vietnam.  He retired from Georgia DOT as District Right of Way Manager in 1987 after 34 years of service, was employed by Moreland-Altobelli Associates until 1991, and was owner of a private real estate appraisal firm until his retirement in 2003.  He was an Honorary Life Member of Ga Sheriffs Youth Homes and a member of GSRA.  Thomas was an avid reader who loved the outdoors, travel and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Vera Folmar Hathaway; and the children of a loving, blended family; three daughters, Angela Hathaway, Beth (Chris) Holland of Pooler, Ga, and Catherine (Jeff) Hewitt of Allenhurst, GA; two sons, Curt (Lisa) Carpenter of Williamston, MI, and David (Teresa) Carpenter of Hinesville, GA; eleven grandchildren, Kyle Carpenter, Jessica Thomas, Isaac Carpenter, Alyssa Carpenter, Ray Turner, Jeffery Hewitt, Jacob Hewitt, Ashley Hathaway, Will Medford, Kylee Hathaway and Haley Hathaway; two great-grandchildren, Winston Boyd Turner and William Oliver Thomas, and several nieces and nephews.

Thomas will be lovingly remembered for his quiet strength, his sense of fair play and his devotion to his family.  He will be sadly missed by all.

The visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. on Sunday, December 12, 2021 at the funeral home.

The funeral to honor Thomas' life will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, December 13, 2021 in the chapel of the funeral home with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
