Thomas Huggins Perry (1938-2023)
Thomas Huggins "T-Bone" Perry of Pooler, GA passed away on Thursday, November 23, 2023, at St. Joseph's/Candler Hospital after a long-fought illness. Thomas was born in Poston, SC, and lived his youth in Port Wentworth, GA, eventually making his home in Pooler, GA with is wife of 59 years. He was the owner and operator of Perry's Gulf and TBA, then Perry's Chevron. He was one of the first Volunteer EMT's for the City of Pooler and sponsored the first Midget Girl's Softball team for the Recreation Department. Thomas was a former Past Master of the Frank F. Baker Masonic Lodge # 46 in Garden City, GA. He was a member of Rothwell Baptist Church in Pooler, GA. His true passion was NASCAR racing. He raced in the Late-Model Sportsman Class at the Savannah Speedway and Oglethorpe Speedway with the likes of Lee Roy and Cale Yarbrough, Bud Moore, Tiny Lund, and Wendell Scott. Family and friends traveled to many events in the 70's and 80's where fun was had by all. Once retired, you would find him on Sunday's in his favorite seat watching the race on television. Survivors include his wife, Shirley Paul Perry and one daughter, Toni Perry Townsend, as well as a number of nieces and nephews. The visitation will be on Tuesday, November 28, 2023 from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the service to honor Tom's life to follow at 11 a.m. in the chapel of the funeral home.
