Newington – Thomas Hoyt Taylor, 63, passed away Saturday, April 7, 2012 at Candler Hospital.
The Chatham County native had been an employee of the City of Savannah since July of 1987 where he worked in the water and sewer department. He was a member of Red Bluff Fundamentalist Baptist Church.
He enjoyed gardening and made the best pecan pie ever eaten. He enjoyed going to Bluegrass Festivals, NASCAR races, and the North Georgia Mountains. His sense of humor was something to be envied and he could take the most dull conversation and brighten it with a few well spoken words.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Pama Leigh Strickland Taylor; children, Rachel Leigh Taylor Buechner and son-in-law, William Hollis Buechner, Jr., Mary Ruth Taylor Raskind and son-in-law, Daniel Raskind; three cherished and loved grandchildren, Amber, David, and Michael Buechner; his brother, Eric Taylor and sister-in-law, Julie Taylor; nephew, Jason Taylor; nieces, Sarah and Erica Taylor; and his father-in-law, John Strickland, Jr.
Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday April 14, 2012 in the chapel.
In lieu of flowers remembrances may be given to the J.C. and Nancy N. Lewis Cancer & Research Pavilion.
