Guyton-Mr. Thomas Wyotte Tipton, age 54, died Friday, February 5, 2010 following a
courageous battle against cancer.

Tommy was born, April 29, 1955 in Savannah, GA. He was a graduate of Groves High
School, class of 1974. Tommy was the terminal superintendent for PCS Phosphate in
Port Wentworth for over twenty years. He was the founder and owner of Southern
Steamers. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Port Wentworth.

Tommy is survived by his wife of 13 years, Leslie Hodges Tipton; a daughter, Amanda
Sanders (Shane); a son, Jarrod Tipton (Ashley Doyle); a granddaughter, Emmaline
Noelle; his puppy, Pockets; his mother, Mildred Tipton; four sisters, Lynn Welsh
(Jimmy), Priscilla McCullough (Joey), Teresa Finch (David), Donna Pickard (Raymond);
and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Tommy was preceded in
death by his father, Clarence Eugene Tipton and a sister, Debra Huskey.

The visitation will be on Sunday, February 7, 2010 from 5 - 7 p.m. at the Thomas C.
Strickland & Sons Funeral Home in Pooler.

The funeral will be on Monday, February 8, 2010 at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of
Port Wentworth. Interment will follow at Middleground Church Cemetery in Newington,
GA. Rev. John Ashworth will officiate. Active pallbearers will be Kenny Dumas, David
Dumas, Bobby Dumas, Andy Stone, Carl Edwards, Greg Helmy, Corky Hebert, and John
Boston.
