Obituary

Mr. Tom Eck, 83, of Port Wentworth, GA, passed away on Wednesday, January 31, 2024 at Landmark Hospital.

Tom was born in Nashville, TN and had lived in Dublin, GA for 43 years before moving to Port Wentworth in 2021.  He was a longtime member of the Pine Forest Methodist Church in Dublin, then joined the Port Wentworth Methodist Church where he was active in the Prayer Warrior Group.  He helped start the SP Newsprint, then retired after 27 years of service.  He was very involved in family and church activities, he also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and being a part of the Kiwanis Club in Dublin.  Tom had a servant's heart and always helped others.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Lois Heyer Eck, his wife, Dot Eck, and his brother, Ted Eck.

Survivors include his children, Eric & Sherry Eck, Hunter Eck & Sharon Dubberly, Laura & Scott Weatherford, and Kyle Eck; grandchildren, Kevin & Faith Eck, Andrew & Brooke Eck, Jonathan Eck, Paisley Eck, Shyanne Eck, and Gunner Kibler; great-grandchildren, Thomas Eck, Grace Eck, and Levi Eck; sister, Pat Dominick, as well as several nieces and nephews.  Also surviving are the children that Tom and Dot fostered for 12 years.

The visitation will be on Friday, February 9, 2024 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

The funeral will be on Saturday, February 10, 2024 at 1 p.m. at the Port Wentworth Methodist Church located at 201 Turnberry Street.  The burial will follow at Hillcrest Abbey West Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be given to the Port Wentworth Methodist Church – Tom Eck Scholarship Fund
