Tommie S. Handy

Guyton - Tommie S. Handy, 87, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 29, 2010.

He was born to Jessie and Matilda Handy on April 23, 1923 in Absher, NC.

Mr. Handy proudly served his country in the Armed Forces from 1943 until 1947.
Serving as an M.P. in WWII, he was stationed in Italy and Panama. He was Commander
of Post 660 in Savannah.

Tommie came to reside in Savannah in the early 1950's. He was employed by Desoto
Trucks and later drove trucks for Allied Chemical. His favorite pastimes included
farming honey, spending time with his children, and meeting up with his coffee club
friends at McDonald's in Rincon. He was an active member of Central Junction Baptist
Church.

Surviving Mr. Handy are his childen, Sandra Giles (Harold), Polly Morris (Lew), Delores
Floyd, Michael Handy (Sue), Danny Handy (Viktoriya), and Bobby Handy; 17
grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Homer
Handy of North Carolina.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the chapel with funeral services
following at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Kenny Harrelson officiating.

Interment will follow in Hillcrest Abbey West.

Remembrances may be given to Ronald McDonald House.
