Sanders, Sr, and their three children. Jack Sanders, Jr and his wife Lucille until recently lived in Oliver, Georgia. Cynthia Sanders Cleghorn and her husband Robert reside in Benton, AR. Tommie Sue and two of her sisters spent most of their childhood at the Savannah Home for Girls. All who knew her “can truthfully say . . .” - she was a dedicated homemaker, gifted artist and talented cook. She worked in the Rincon First Baptist Church kindergarten for several years, and owned and operated Rincon’s first public daycare – The Gingerbread House – before retiring in 1996. She was a faithful member of the Fidelis Sunday School class at Rincon First Baptist. She loved Jesus and leaves a legacy of faith demonstrated by decades of kindness and service to her relatives and church family. Mrs. Sanders never met a stranger, and she especially loved talking to children she would meet while out shopping.
A celebration of her life will be held at Thomas C. Strickland and Sons’ Effingham Chapel 2460 Highway 21 S in Rincon, GA on Saturday, June 6, 2026, with Rincon FBC Worship Pastor Matthew Pittman officiating. In honor of Mrs. Sanders’ artistic talents, the family asks those attending wear bright colors. Family and friends may visit beginning at 9:30 a.m. before the service at 10:00 a.m., with internment immediately following at the Rincon Cemetery.
The family requests that any memorials be made to the Kidz Ministry Fund at Rincon First Baptist Church.
