Bloomingdale-Mr. Tommie Terry, 83, went to his eternal home on Monday, September
20, 2010 after a long illness.
Tom was born on April 6, 1928 in Alabama. He was a graduate of Armstrong State
University. As a demolition expert he worked for the Army Corp of Engineers. He had
an extensive career with the Georgia Port Authority but retired after 30 years with Peeples
Industries. In retirement he opened Tom's Saw Shop with his son Steve in
Bloomingdale. He was an active member of the Acacea Masonic Lodge and Scottish Rite
of Savannah and later joining the Shriners and the Dune Cats. He enjoyed fishing,
hunting and most of all people and his family. He was a member of the Montgomery
Baptist Church and was preceded in death by his wife, Maudelle, and brother, Richard.
Tom is survived by his three children, Tommie Dell, Ann & Danny Russell and
Christopher Steven; grandchildren, Brian Patrick of Florida, Brandon Futch, Brandy
Futch of California, Christopher Terry, Matthew McGraph and four great-grandchildren
and we cannot forget his loving companion, Bassett Hound, Bocephus "Bo".
Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Funeral: 1:30 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of the funeral home with burial to follow at
Forest Lawn Memory Gardens located at 1315 Greenwich Road, Savannah, GA.
