Tonya Leigh Dowd Jonas, 53, of Guyton, passed away on Monday, August 30,2021 in the loving care of her beloved husband, Jeffrey Lee Jonas.

Tonya was born in Metter, Candler County, Georgia.

Tonya was preceded in death by her mother and father, Georgia (Wren) and Steve Cribbs as well as mother-in-law Kathryn Jonas.

She attended Pineora Baptist Church where she was active in helping in the nursery and VBS. She formerly attended Faulkville Baptist Church where she was active in the children's ministry. She was active in the Boy Scouts as a scout mom to her beloved son, Alex, as well as many other young scouts. She cared for many others in her life as they were family and made sure they were loved. She found joy in baking cakes and making sure there was always food for everyone.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Jeffery Lee Jonas; beloved children, Selina N. Jonas and Alex C. Jonas; paternal father and step mother, Glenn and Aloise Dowd; brother, Darrell Dowd; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Tonya's In-laws were considered as brothers and sisters, Joey and Theresa Jonas, Jenny Jonas, Kathy and James Harrell.

The visitation will be on Sunday, September 5, 2021 from 2 until 3 p.m. at the funeral home followed by the funeral at 3 p.m. in the chapel of the funeral home.  Burial will follow at Lower Black Creek Cemetery.  The family requests that those attending wear a mask and observe social distancing.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the donor's choice in her memory. Tonya had a special place for heart research, cancer research, and children's care foundations. Silk flowers are preferred if flowers are sent.
