Springfield – Velma Rahn Nease, 78, passed away May 16, 2021 at the Oaks at Pooler.

The Effingham County native was a retired office manager with Effingham Dental Associates.  She became Miss Rincon in 1959 and a was high school cheerleader.  She was a member of Springfield United Methodist Church where she taught the 2 & 3 year olds for 57 years.  She loved to sew, crochet, doing yardwork, and spending time with her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lavan Hamilton Rahn and Bertie Altman Rahn; and her husband, Ernie Nease.

Survivors include her daughters, Ranie Harper (Scott) and Beckie Proctor (Mark); grandchildren, Christopher Proctor (Alex), Zachary Pitts, Alyx Pitts, and Clay Proctor; great-grandchildren, Taylor, Claire, and Ranie Madison; sister, Ellen Wiley; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Clyde "Bubba" Nease, Jr. (Betty Sue), Nancy Murray, Cheri Spence (Tommy); and a number of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 18, 2021 at Springfield United Methodist Church followed by funeral services at 3:00 p.m.

Interment will follow in Springfield Cemetery Annex.
