Garden City-Mrs. Vera Nease Kessler, 81, died at Hospice House on Friday, June 1, 2012.
She was born in Chatham County on November 15, 1930. She grew up in Port Wentworth and lived most of her adult life in Garden City. She was the daughter of the late Arthur and Alma Nease. She was a member of Port Wentworth United Methodist Church and an active member of the United Methodist Women and Oscar Bell Sunday School Class for many years. She was employed by Doctors Fenwick T. Nichols and Caroline J. Williams for more than 25 years. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Richard E. Kessler.
Survivors include one daughter, Susan Powers (Steve), of Florence, SC; two sons, Ricky Kessler of Garden City, and Kerry Kessler (Donna) of Rincon; her loving grandchildren, Jason Powers (Jennifer), Tiffany Kessler (Nick), and Ansley Kessler Ray (Jason); and three precious great-grandchildren, Weston Powers and Madison and Montgomery-Leigh Ray; two brothers, A. Burnette Nease, Jr. and Waldo N. Nease (JoAnn) and several nieces and nephews.
The visitation was from 5-7 p.m. on Sunday, June 3, 2012 at the funeral home.
The funeral to celebrate Mrs. Kessler's life was at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, June 4, 2012 at the Port Wentworth United Methodist Church. Rev. Randy Nease officiated and the music was provided by Ms. Ann Groover and Mr. Robert Peavy. Pallbearers were Jason Powers, Jason Ray, Brian Nease, Kevin Nease, Terry Nease, Wade Nease and Timmy Nease. Burial followed at Hillcrest Abbey West Cemetery.
