Mrs. Vera M. Powell, 93, of Pooler passed away on Sunday, September 20, 2020 at her home.

She was born in Tattnall County to the late William Wesley Jones and Ethel Mae McMillan Turner. She was preceded in death by three husbands, Charles E. Fleming, Sr., James H. McNair and John J. Powell, son-in-law, Ben Fields, and a grandson, Charles Fleming. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Pooler, where she attended the Win One Sunday School Class and was a longtime greeter. She was a homemaker and enjoyed reading.

Survivors include two daughters and a son, Crystal Adkins (Patrick), Linda Fields and Bruce Allen Fleming (Suzie); five grandchildren, Christopher (Jessica), Nolan and Nicholas (Jill) Fields, Matthew (Megan) and Kaylee Adkins; six great-grandchildren, Candace McCullough (Thomas), Pamela Dyer (Trent), Charles Fleming, Jr., Ashley Rogers (Danny), Lennon Fields, and Aliya Fields; seven great-great-grandchildren, Alexis, Mykala and Mariah McCullough, Skylar Cooper, Piper Rogers, Trent Dyer, Jr. and Bryce Gillis; a brother and three sisters, W.W. Jones, Jr., Geraldine Ford, Mary Ann Evans, and Mellie Ruth Flanigan, as well as a number of nieces and nephews.

The visitation will be on Thursday, September 24, 2020 from 10 until 11 a.m. at the funeral home. The funeral will follow at 11 a.m. in the chapel of the funeral home. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Abbey West Cemetery. Rev. Bryan Parrish will officiate. The active pallbearers will be Bruce Fleming, Patrick Adkins, Christopher Fields, Nicholas Fields, Matthew Adkins, Val Erwin, and Nolan Fields. All CDC and social distancing guidelines will be in place, including the mandatory wearing of masks (Chatham County Mandate).
