Savannah-Vernon Collins, 85, passed away on Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at Hospice Savannah.
Vernon was born to the late Bennie and Lonie S. Collins. He was a long time member of the First Baptist Church of Garden City, served his country in the U.S. Air Force and retired from Union Camp after 41 years of service. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, hunting and working out at the Fitness One Gym at Memorial Hospital.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Jeanette Mitchell Collins of Savannah; children, Tony Vernon Collins and wife, Sandra, of Sims, NC; and Judy Collins Kessler and husband, Craig, of Rincon; grandchildren, Madelyn Kessler Lowrimore and husband, Patrick, of Guyton; and Austin Collins Kessler of Rincon; sister, Joyce C. Carter of El Dorado, AR; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Lewis & Vicki Mitchell of Savannah as well as several nieces and nephews.
The visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. on Saturday followed by a celebration of life service at 11 a.m. in the chapel of the funeral home. Burial will follow at Greenwich Cemetery.
