Black Creek - Vernon Eugene Lanier, 77, was called by his maker, while surrounded by his family on May 16, 2009 after a long illness.
Vernon was a lifelong resident of Black Creek and was a Korean War Veteran. He owned his own construction business for well over 15 years and was a member of Local 256 and Beulah Baptist Church. He was an animal lover. He was preceded in death by his mother, Elise Wise Lanier; father, Lewis Lanier; brothers, Robert Lee Lanier and James Lanier. He is also preceded by his beloved canine friends, Ladybug and Scooter.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Grace Lanier; son, George Lanier of Orlando; daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca Delcampo (Michael); granddaughter, Marcelene Alexandria Delcampo; sister, Mary Johns (George); Jimmy Saxon (Mary) who was his nephew but viewed as a son; and several nieces and nephews.
He has requested no memorial service and instead wanted everyone to remember him the way he was.
