Pooler-Mrs. Viola Aycock Bacon, 88, made her final journey home on Saturday afternoon and answered the call from her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was the faithful wife for 61 years to William E. Bacon, Jr., the selfless mother to Jimmy (Brenda) Bacon and Dee (Mark) Porter, the precious granny to Christopher (Stasia) Marburger and Jared Bacon, and the loving great-grandmother to Alyssa (Sweet Pea) and Collin Marburger.
Viola was born in Appling County, GA to Barden V. and Luna Arnold Aycock. She was predeceased by her brothers, Titus, James and Bruce Aycock. She retired from Union Camp after 25 years of service and later ministered for many years to the women in the Chatham County Jail.
The family wishes to thank the entire staff of Odyssey Hospice for the wonderful care given to our family.
The funeral to celebrate Mrs. Viola's life was held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, October 16, 2012 at The Sanctuary Church with Rev. Larry McDaniel, Dr. Hugo Hammond and Rev. Todd McDaniel officiating. Music was provided by Mr. Jack Smiley and Mrs. Annette McDaniel. The nephews served as pallbearers. The graveside funeral and burial was held on Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at 10 a.m. at Hillcrest Abbey East Cemetery with Rev. Dale Dyar officiating.
