Virginia Jones Hodges, 92, died June 21, 2017, in Alpharetta, Georgia. A sixty-eight year resident of Garden City, she was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-seven years, Claude Hodges, Jr. She is survived by her children, Marie Casper (Rick) of Savannah, Lawrence Hodges (Debbie) of Alpharetta, GA, and Ginger Jory (Doug) of Lilburn, GA; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was a graduate of Statesboro High School and attended Armstrong Junior College, where she was captain of the 1943 ladies basketball team. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Garden City, which was the cornerstone of her strong faith. She was a homemaker and spent her time taking care of others. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother, and will be greatly missed. Visitation will be at the Thomas C. Strickland & Sons Funeral Home located at 901 W. Hwy. 80 in Pooler from 9:30-10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 24th, with the funeral to follow at 10:30 a.m. in the chapel of the funeral home with Pastor Larry Speir officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Abbey West Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Eric Casper, Brooks Casper, Drew Casper, Katherine Jory, Sarah Jory and Doug Jory.
