Virginia Sowell Scott

Kildare- Virginia Sowell Scott, 87, died Monday, April 21, 2014 at her home in Kildare, Georgia.

An Effingham County native, she graduated from the Warren A. Candler School of Nursing in 1947.  She married her husband of 64 years, Louis M. Scott, Jr. on June 24, 1949. Her love of nursing was carried to many states as she followed Louis thru his naval career.  She retired from Effingham Hospital as Director of Nursing.  She was a member of Mizpah United Methodist Church and the U.M.W., where she served faithfully for many years.  She loved to hunt, fish and entertain family and friends at their home in Kildare and their cabin on the Savannah River.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence Sowell and Gussie Tuttle Sowell; a sister, Amelia S. Myers; and a brother, Hubert E. Sowell.

Survivors include her husband, Louis M. Scott, Jr.; her sister and brother-in-law, Elsie and Julius Tumbleston of Charleston, SC; her sister-in-law, Nellie Tomlin and her brother-in-law, Mack Scott of Springfield; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

A special thank you to her caregivers, Roberta Turner, Linda Turner and Barbara Saylor for their love and compassion.

Visitation: 10-11 am Friday, April 25, 2014 at Mizpah United Methodist Church.

Funeral: 11 am Friday, April 25, 2014 at Mizpah United Methodist Church

Interment: Mizpah United Methodist Church Cemetery.
