Rincon – Virginia A. Strickland, 79, passed away Tuesday, April 15, 2025 at Effingham Care Center.
The Savannah, GA native was a graduate of Herschel V. Jenkins High School and was a member of Bethesda GMC. She had worked as a cosmetologist, co-owner/clerk/butcher at Strickland IGA, clerk/butcher at Thompson's IGA, pharmacy clerk at Rupert Heller's Pharmacy, before retiring to care for her grandchildren in 1997. Virginia was also co-owner with her husband, Charles, of the "Bowl Man". They enjoyed traveling to craft shows and selling their hand-made wooden bowls. She also loved gardening, crafting, and spending time with family & friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles D. Strickland; father, Richard Saunders; mother, Nellie Woods Saunders; and brother, Richard Thomas Saunders.
Survivors include her daughter, Tammy S. Saxon (Douglas); two grandsons and their wives that she loved with all of her heart, Brayden Saxon (Michaela) and Ashton Saxon (Sarah Lyn); and great-grandson that she loved "to the moon & back", Kylar L. Saxon.
The family would like to express gratitude for the excellent care Virginia received from Lakeview Manor, Effingham Care Center, and Compassus Hospice.

Graveside Services will be held 3 pm Friday, April 18, 2025 at Bethesda GMC Cemetery.
