Bloomingdale-Mrs. Vonell McKuhen Culver, 83, passed away on Friday, June 13, 2014.
Mrs. Vonell was born in Swainsboro to the late Thad & Mattie McKuhen. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Frankie Culver, Jr. after 55 years of marriage, as well as five brothers, and two sisters. Vonell was a loyal and dedicated member of the First Baptist Church of Bloomingdale where she taught Sunday School for 55 years, and also enjoyed teaching Vacation Bible School. She was a loving mother, devoted wife, sister, grandmother, and teacher. She loved working in the yard, growing vegetables in her garden, and cooking. One of her greatest pleasures was spending time with her family and vacationing in the mountains.
Survivors include five daughters and their husbands, Betty Hicks & David, of Pooler, Wanda Barnes & Johnnie, of Rincon, Janice Hartenhoff & Duane, of Rincon, Brenda Moss Rose & Sam, of Rincon, and Ginger Adkinson & Reid, of Guyton; 19 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Erma Polk of Warrenton, GA; brother and sister-in-law, Henry McKuhen & Shirley, of Camak, GA, and several nieces and nephews.
The visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. The funeral will follow at 12:30 p.m. in the chapel of the funeral home. Burial will follow at Gravel Hill Cemetery. Rev. George Pabst will officiate and her grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
