Obituary

Guyton – Walter Reid Adkinson, 70, of Guyton, GA passed away July 17, 2025 at Memorial Health.

The Florida native served in the U.S. Army.  He retired from UPS after 30+ years, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing and traveling to the Great Smoky Mountains.  He was the co-owner of Freedom Stump Grinding with his son.  He was a member of Compassion Christian Church – Henderson Campus.  He was a member of the Egypt Hunting Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence William Adkinson and Dorothy Lucille Felton Adkinson; and brothers, Wayne Adkinson and Doug Adkinson.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Ginger Adkinson; sons, Reid Alan Adkinson (Maggie), Travis Aron Adkinson (Lauren), Colby Adam Adkinson (Jessie), and Brad Ashlee Adkinson (Misty); grandchildren, Luke, Colton, Eli, Tucker, Silas, Asher, Ridge, Madison, and Parker; half-sister, Barbara Susan Burk.

Visitation will be 12:30 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. Sunday, July 20, 2025 at the funeral home followed by funeral services at 2 p.m. in the chapel.

Interment will follow in Effingham Memorial Gardens.

Please wear red in honor of Reid and his love of the color red.
