Guyton – Walter J. Butler, Sr., 73, passed away November 22, 2024 at his residence.

The Chatham County native was a U.S. Air Force veteran.  He was retired from Insulators Local #96 having been a member over 50 years.  He was a member and Deacon at First Baptist Church of Marlow.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Merlin and Nellie Edwards Butler.

Survivors include his wife, Rhonda Campbell Butler; children, Genny Harrington, Walter J. Butler, Jr. (Jennifer), and Kevin Butler (Anita); grandchildren, Hannah, Sarah, Garrett, Rebecca, and Eliza Harrington, Tamala Bledsoe (Mat), Walter J. Butler, III, William Butler, Ski Jenkins; great-grandchildren, Shaylynn, Lilliana, Milli, and Cash; sister, Jane Stokes; brothers, Arthur Butler and Merlin Butler; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, November 25, 2024 at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 26, 2024 at First Baptist Church of Marlow.

Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
