Obituary
Wilbur Eugene "Gene" New,79, died Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at his residence under the care of hospice.
The Montgomery County native was a member of First Baptist Church of Rincon. Gene had worked for the Savannah Sugar Refinery for 16 years, Stone Container for 22 years, and had been a home builder for many years.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Betty New; sons, Mark New (Lisa), Mike New, and Chris New (Stacie); grandchildren, Suzanne New, Allison (Zach) Curtis, Dylan New, Chase New, Mason New, Addison New, Emma New, and Aiden New; brothers, Denny New (Candi) and Dudley New (Joan); sisters, Faye Cunningham and Jan Wrightson; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 6-8 pm Wednesday, May 17, 2017 in the funeral home.
Funeral: 11 am Thursday, May 18, 2017 at the First Baptist Church of Rincon.
Graveside Service: 3 pm Thursday, May 18, 2017 at Hardens Chapel Cemetery.
