Yemassee, SC – Wiley Branch Kessler, Jr., 94, passed away January 25, 2022 at NHC Healthcare Charleston.
The Effingham County native grew up in Savannah. He was a member of Varnville United Methodist Church since 1962 where he sang in the choir and held various offices within the church. He served as Chairman of the Hampton County School Board-District 1 and was a little league baseball coach for many years. He was employed at Central GA Railroad in Savannah for 15 years before moving to Varnville, SC then working and retiring from Westinghouse. He served in the Georgia National Guard for 15 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wiley Branch Kessler, Sr. and Elmyra Camilla Zipperer Kessler; and brother, Wilbur Ray Kessler (Fay).
Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Sue C. Kessler; daughter, Carol Pullen (Jerry); son, Wiley B. Kessler, III (Lynn); grandchildren, Catherine Klauber, William W. Klauber (Sara), Jennifer Nicole Kessler, Shelley Kelly (Jason), and Jason Pullen (Allison); great-grandchildren, Elizabeth and William Klauber, Max and Madison Kelly, Lilly and Wren Pullen; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, January 29, 2022 at Bethesda United Methodist Church, 3608 Midland Road, Guyton, GA 31312.
Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
