William Eugene Botkins (Bill) 95, passed away at home on Saturday, November 30, 2024 after an extended illness. Son of the late Toleman and Mollie Botkins. Bill was born in Hima, Kentucky and attended schools in Hima, Kentucky and Detroit, Michigan.
Bill was a veteran, having served 9 years in the U.S. Army. During his military career, Bill received the Korean Service Medal, the National Defense Medal, and 4 Bronze Stars. Bill moved to Georgia in October of 1958 to start his career at Johns- Manville. He was the plant manager for many years and retired on February 5, 1992.
Bill opened a restaurant in Springfield for a few years, Magnolia Garden. He truly enjoyed serving the community. His family was all happy to be employed and help run the business.
Bill enjoyed hunting and fishing in his freetime. He was a part of a men's breakfast club for 20 years at Mcdonald's in Rincon. Bill's favorite thing to do was spending time with his beloved family.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents Toleman and Mollie Botkins. Brothers Charles Botkins, Lou Botkins, and James Botkins. Sisters Gertrude Carr, Ula Patz, and Eva Griffin.
Survivors include his children Toleman Botkins, Robert Botkins, Linda Rodenbough, and Martha Stapleton(Gary). Grandchildren William Foskey, Kasie Schafer(Chris), Scott Foskey(Christina), Christy Rodenbough, Steve Rodenbough, and Kathrine Rodenbough. Great grandchildren Megan, Madison, Victoria, Ethan, Scott, Kayla, Kalen, Masen, Cameron.
