Mr. William Albert "Bill" Oglesby, Jr., aged 71, passed away on Monday, January 8, 2024 at Riverview Health and Rehabilitation Center in Savannah, GA.

Bill was born in Savannah, GA on January 24, 1952. As a young man he enlisted and served in the United States Army. He then worked as a middle school teacher in the subjects of mathematics, science and social studies. Bill was a member of the Lord's Church and attended Garden City Church of Christ for over 25 years. He spent his life serving and encouraging others. He will be remembered for his wisdom, fairness and his devotion to God.

Bill loved his family fiercely. He loved to spend time with his wife, children and grandchildren. In  his spare time, he enjoyed woodworking, sudoku puzzles and building dodecahedrons. He also loved playing games and watching old black and white films with his family.

Bill was preceeded in death by his parents, William Albert Oglesby, Sr. And Nora Juanita Avant Oglesby, and his wife, Joanne Marie Oglesby.  He is survived by his daughter Marie McDermott (Jason), son William Oglesby, III; grandchildren, Kaleigh McDermott and Walden McDermott; siblings, Sally Shore (Charles)  and David Oglesby, and a host of family and friends.

The visitation with the family is scheduled for Saturday, January 13, 2024 from 10:00am-12:00pm at Thomas C.Strickland & Sons Funeral Home in Pooler, GA. The graveside service to honor the life of Bill Oglesby will be held at 2:00pm at Greenwich Cemetery,  315 Greenwich Rd., Savannah, Georgia.
