Rincon – William Franklin Godley, Sr., 93, died peacefully Sunday, February 6, 2022 at Effingham Care Center.
The North Carolina native served in the U.S. Navy. He attended the Rincon Church of God and was a lifelong member of the I.B.E.W. He was preceded in death by his parents, Benny F. and Vera Godley; wife, Lilly Inez Morris Godley; brother, Cecil Godley; and sister, Bernice Mayo.
Survivors include his son, Rev. William Franklin (Barbara) Godley, Jr.; daughters, Brenda Bracken, Vera (Dennis M.) Jones, and Vickie (Steven E.) Decker; sister, Joyce Waters; 12 grandchildren, William Franklin Godley, III, Angela Cowger, James Godley, Amanda Grant, Craig Bracken, Michael Bracken, Renae Westerfield, Gerald Mitchell Jones, Steven Elliott Decker, Jr., Kaelyn Ashley Decker, Jacob Coy Decker, and Addison Grace Decker; great-grandchildren, Landon Mitchell Jones, Landry Jones, Madeline Jean Cowger, Isabella Rose Cowger, Jesse Cowger, Madison Elizabeth Bracken, Cameron Michael Bracken, Mason Bradley Bracken, Avery Bracken, Trenton James Bracken, Riley Claire Bracken, Paisley Westerfield, Bennett Westerfield, Peyton Louis Decker, William Godley, IV, Georgia Godley, Jeremiah Godley, Ellie Godley, Charlotte Godley, Maizy Godley, Malachi Grant, Levi Grant, and Josiah Grant; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 12 noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday, February 9, 2022 at the funeral home followed by funeral services at 1 p.m. in the chapel.
Interment will be in Effingham Memorial Gardens.
