William J. "Bud" Avila

Mr. William J. “Bud” Avila, 77, of Pooler, Georgia, passed away on Tuesday, September 29, 2026 at his home.

Bud will be missed by his wife of 36 years, Jan L. Avila; children, Kathryn Elizabeth Avila and Jonathan Fraser Avila; sister, Toni Cook (Dozier), as well as a number of nieces and nephews.

Bud was born in Providence, Rhode Island and had lived in Pooler for many years. He was preceded in death by a son, William Roland Avila; parents, William and Irene Tyner Avila. He taught all levels of Mathematics with the Chatham County Board of Education for 47 years. He was named Star Teacher eight times. He also coached soccer at both Johnson High School and Windsor Forest High School. He also taught at Armstrong College for many years. He will be remembered for being very intelligent, loyal, and always committed to his students.

Bud’s wishes were to be cremated without a formal service.
