Rev. Dr. William Ross Johnston
Rincon- Rev. Dr. William Ross Johnston, 82, passed away July 22, 2018 at Hospice Savannah.
The Amarillo, TX native was a retired Presbyterian minister, having served in Perryton, TX, Dahlonega, GA, Decatur, GA, Opelika, AL, Lilburn, GA, Aiken, SC, and Lexington, SC. While in Dahlonega, he served as a civilian chaplain for the Army Rangers. He was a chaplain for the police departments in Lexington and Aiken. Also while ministering in Aiken, he was instrumental in forming ACTS, an interchurch, interfaith, cooperative ministry. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Mary J. Castagnaro.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Linda W. Johnston; his daughter, Melissa Johnston Miles (Lewis); son, Robert Ross Johnston (Denise); grandchildren, Rachel, Hank, Austin, Brooke, and Hannah; brother, Kenneth Henry Johnston (Gerrie); sister, Rebecca C. Peters (Walt); and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial service: 4 pm Saturday, August 4, 2018 at Rincon United Methodist Church.
