William (Bill) L. Leonard, Jr.
Springfield – William (Bill) L. Leonard, Jr., 82, passed away October 6, 2017 at Effingham Extended Care.
Bill was born in Bulloch County, GA on November 19, 1934. He was the son of Alma (Futch) Leonard and Leroy Leonard.
He served in the 101st National Guard, A Battery, Statesboro, GA for a period of 10 years.
He is retired from Union Camp/International Paper for a period of 45 years as a Boilermaker/Welder. He also belonged to Corporate Engineers with the Osha Beta Project.
He was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, Springfield, GA.
Bill was a multi-talented individual. He created a place of beauty on his 18 acres on Bethany Road. He built his home, workshop, bar-b-que building, utility building, several pump-houses, and Gazebo. He also did all of his own landscaping over the property and every spring he planted a large garden that the family and friends enjoyed every summer.
Survivors include: Carolynn S. Leonard (his wife of 43 years); sons, Ashley Leonard (Carole), Charles C. Singleton, III (Liz); daughter, Donna Robbins (Eddie); sister, Marlene Iler (Raymond); brother, Richard Leonard (Linda); six grandchildren, Kyle Robbins, Sarah and Charlie Singleton, Bonnie White, Margaret Leonard, and Rebecca Adair; 3 great- grandchildren. Also, he considered Carolynn's sisters, Ruth and Linda (Ken) as his own. They brought much joy to his life.
Visitation will be 6-8 pm Monday, October 9, 2017 at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be 10 am Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at St. Boniface Catholic Church.
Interment will follow in Effingham Memorial Gardens.
