Mr. William J. McCarty, Jr., 83, of Bloomingdale, passed away on Thursday, August 16, 2018 at his home.

He was born in Toombs County to the late William J. "Willie" McCarty, Sr. & Leila Mae Holland McCarty Simpson.  He was also preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Evelyn L. Waller McCarty and his son, Baby McCarty.  He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bloomingdale since 1957 and was ordained as a Deacon in 1964, he was also a member of the Men's II Sunday School Class.  He served his country in the U.S. Marines and retired from Union Camp in 1997 after 43 years of service.  He enjoyed fishing, wood working, including building cabinets.  He was a loving husband, father and father-in-law.

Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Ellen & Jeffrey Duggar; sister, Doris Kneip; several cousins, nieces and a nephew.

The visitation will be on Sunday, August 19 ^th from 1:30 until 3 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Bloomingdale with the funeral to follow at 3 p.m. in the sanctuary.  Burial will follow at Gravel Hill Cemetery.
