Obituary

Mr. William "Bill" Ovly Parsons

Garden City-Mr. William "Bill" Ovly Parsons, 89, died on Tuesday, April 8, 2008 at St.
Joseph's Hospital.

Mr. Parsons was born in Madison County, Alabama on May 11, 1918 to the late Kemuel
& Mary Francis Light Parsons. He proudly served his country as a Military Police Officer
at home and overseas during World War II. After the war, he resided in Chatham County.
Bill married Era Belk Parsons in 1942. He worked and retired as a diesel mechanic. He
enjoyed spending time with his family. He loved to plow, plant, grow all types of
gardens. He loved to harvest and make sugar cane syrup. Riding his tractor and farming
was a passion he shared and taught his family to do. He was a good hearted,
compassionate, loving man. He was a member of Central Baptist Church. In addition to
his mother and father, he was preceded in death by his mother and father and three
brothers, Wiley, Wildred, and Zelmon Parsons.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Era Belk Parsons of Garden City; son, William F.
Parsons of Garden City; adopted son, Steve "Pia" Lee of Stilson; two sisters, Easter
Souders of Atlanta and Martha Lawrence of Morgan City, AL; two brothers, George
Parsons of Huntsville, AL and Joe Parsons of Union Hill, AL and several nieces, nephews
and friends.

The visitation for Mr. Parsons will be from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 9, 2008 at the
Thomas C. Strickland & Sons Funeral Home, West Chatham Chapel.

The funeral to honor the life of Mr. Parsons will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 10, 2008
in the chapel of the Thomas C. Strickland & Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Kenny
Harrelson officiating. Pallbearers will be Walter Shuman, Larry Lee, Hank Hall, Bobby
Sweat, David Bull and Mark Scruggs. Burial will follow at Lower Black Creek Cemetery
on Highway 280 in Bryan County.

Remembrances may be given to Central Baptist Church, 4010 Old Louisville Road,
Garden City, GA 31408.
