Mr. William Ray “Buddy” Scarboro, 90, of Pooler, Georgia, passed away on Tuesday, April 28, 2026 at his home.

Buddy will be missed by his wife of 65 years, Mary Augustine Riner Scarboro; children, William Raymond Scarboro (Michele) of Anderson, South Carolina, Mary Melinda Dillon (Mark) of Keysville, Georgia, and Janet Marie Musgrove (Melvin) of Chapin, South Carolina; grandchildren, Randall J. Carter, Melissa Ann Carter, Frances Ann Musgrove, Andrew Musgrove, and Jenna Scarboro; great-grandchildren, Rylan Carter, Raina Carter, Bailey Carter, Bryce Ohlsson, and Lydia Mallach; several nieces and nephews.

Buddy was born in Wrightsville, Georgia and had lived in Pooler for many years. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Harry Scarboro and Ruby Sammons Scarboro Hall; great-grandson, Joshua Guzman; brother, Arthur Eugene Scarboro; sister, Emma Elise Taylor. He was a Christian, an ordained Deacon , and was a member of Meldrim Baptist Church. He served his country and retired after 20 years from the United States Air Force. He also retired after 25 years of service in 1998 from American Cyanmid/Kemira. He worked for Chatham County as Blue Coat at the courthouse until 2016. He will be remembered for his work ethic, working from the age of 14 until he was 80 years old. He enjoyed traveling, especially camping, but most of all, he loved and supported his family.

The visitation will be on Saturday, May 2, 2026 from 12 noon until 1 p.m. at the funeral home. The funeral to honor Buddy’s life will follow at 1 p.m. in the chapel of the funeral home with the burial to follow at Westside Memorial Gardens.
