William Clayton Sykes, Sr. passed away peacefully at his home on March 24, 2017 at the age of 85. Born in Wilmington, NC on December 19th, 1931.
Bill served 8 years in the US Army and was a veteran of the Korean War. He served his country proud and was a model soldier. After moving to Savannah, Bill worked as a Survey Boat Captain for the US Army Corp of Engineers Survey Division Savannah, GA, where he later retired with 42 years of service.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Thelma Fay Sykes, of Springfield, GA. Son, Billy Sykes (Amber) of Brunswick, GA. Son, Bobby Sykes (Elizabeth) of Rincon, GA. Son, David Sykes (Katie) of Dallas, TX. Son, John Sykes of Savannah, GA. Former Daugher in Law, Ruth Sykes of Macon, GA. Son, Dennis Wills (Ginger) of Rincon, GA. And Daughter, Terry Terry (Tommy) of Guyton, GA. Sister, Grace Millet of Columbus, GA. Nieces, Debbie Millet, Donna Millet, Diane Millet, and Sara White (Jeff). Former Brother in Law, Harry Dean. Fourteen grandchilden, 6 great-grandchildren, and 2 great nieces.
A private family service was held in Bills honor on Sunday, March 26th, 2017.
