William Henry Young, Jr.

Guyton- William Henry Young, Jr., son of William and Mary Young of Savannah, GA died April 25, 2014.

Mr. Young has been a long time resident of Guyton, GA.  After serving in the US Navy and being decorated with the Purple Heart and numerous other medals, Mr. Young attended Georgia Tech and graduated from the University of Georgia with a degree in law. During his near forty years as an attorney for the Corps of Engineers, he earned a Juris Doctorate from Duke University.

He attends New Providence Baptist Church in Guyton, where he taught Sunday School and sang in the choir. Many thanks to our devoted friend, Dorothy Drew and Hospice Advantage.

Survivors include his wife, Joan M. Young; children, Cheryle Young,  Suzanne Young, Steven Young (April); sister, Doris Flythe; step-children, Al Beaupre (Joyce), Mike Beaupre (Trish), Melodie Criswell (Robert "Bobby"), Lynn Jarriel, and Gary Jarriel (Annie); grandchildren, Cheryle Schaeffer, Lindsay Nelson, Justen Young, Zachary Young, Samuel Killingsworth, Caitlin Killingsworth, and Robin Lugo; a great-grandson, Hayden Nelson.

Visitation: 4-6 pm Sunday April 27, 2014 in the funeral home.

Funeral: 11 am Monday, April 28, 2014 at New Providence Baptist Church.

Interment: Hillcrest East.
