Mrs. Willie K. Tebeau

Springfield – Mrs. Willie K. Tebeau, 104, passed away Friday, Feburary 14, 2014 at her home.

Mrs. Willie was an extraordinary woman contributing to her family, church, friends, and community in a variety of ways.

Born in Springfield on December 27, 1909 she started teaching in a one room schoolhouse at the age of 16, later worked as a substitute teacher at Effingham County High School, and worked at B & B Grocery. She was a very active member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church where she was an active participant and held many offices within the church, was a member of the Lutheran women's organization for 75 years, and for many years was the oldest member attending the Sunday School Convention. She volunteered with the Pink Ladies for 35 years, enjoyed the Effingham County Senior Citizens Center, and was active with the P.T.A for many years and held many offices. She was a member of the Effingham County Historical Society and the GA Salzburger Society. She enjoyed the outdoors, her rose garden, and cooking for family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert L. and Gussie A. Kieffer; husband, Troy P. Tebeau; siblings, Edith Anderson (Horace), Robert Kieffer, Susie Epting (Joe), Mertice Kirkland (Dep), and Catherine Webb.

Survivors include her children, John W. Tebeau, Jo Louisa Tebeau, and Lee Ellen Hanberry (Billy); granddaughters, Cheryl Dickey (Kelly), Kay Smith (Joey), Robbie Partain (Eddie); 7 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandsons; brother-in-law, Allen Webb; and her caregivers, Anna Marie Jackson and Sarah Goldwire.

Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.

Interment will follow in Bethel Lutheran Church Cemetery.
