Woodrow Elton Hall Sr. passed away surrounded by family on February 18th, 2025. He was born in Newington, GA on January 17, 1949 to Elton and Sarah Hall. He called Egypt, Georgia home.
Big Woody as he was known to so many loved fishing, hunting, gardening, his family, especially his wife Betty, his only son Little Woody and his wife Tina. He adored his 2 grandchildren and was very proud to be "Grandad" to Garrett & Kaitlyn. Most of all he loved his Lord & Savior Jesus Christ. He attended Elam Egypt Baptist Church the majority of his life and served as a Deacon for many years.
Big Woody proudly served his country in the Navy from 1968 until 1970, serving in Vietnam. He later retired from International Paper - Woodland Division previously known as Union Camp. He also retired from Effingham County - Road Maintenance Department. Since retirement he has spent many days on his beloved tractor maintaining his property and growing year round gardens that he loved sharing with family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Elton & Sarah Hall and his brother Frank.
He is survived by his wife, Betty A. Hall; son, Woodrow Elton Hall Jr. (Tina); a grandson, Garrett; and granddaughter, Kaitlyn; his 2 sisters, Cheryl Powell and Gail Botts; several nieces & nephews; and several great & great-great nieces & nephews.
Visitation will be held 10 – 11 am Friday, February 21, 2025 at Thomas C. Strickland & Sons Funeral Home, Effingham Chapel with the service immediately following at 11 am in the funeral home chapel. Burial service will follow at the Hall family cemetery.
