Woodrow Paul Hodges, Sr.
Hodgeville - Woodrow Paul Hodges, Sr., 90, died Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at home.
He was born on July 1, 1919 to Claude and Lizzie Hodges whom preceded him in death
along with his brothers, Fred, Harold, Arthur, Holland, Claudius, and Euless, and sisters,
Mittie, Pearl, and Leila. His wife of 65 years, Ella Elizabeth Rahn Hodges also preceded
him in death in 2008.
Mr. Hodges retired from Savannah Sugar Refinery in 1981 after 40 years of service.
He was a former member of First Baptist Church of Rincon. Currently a member of
North Salem Baptist Church where he served as Deacon, Sunday School Director, and
various other opportunities of service to his Lord and Savior. He was also a member of
the Frank F. Baker #46 Masonic Lodge, Garden City, GA
Survivors include his son, Paul and his wife, Faye; his daughter, Beth and her husband,
Larry Kight; grandchildren, Larry Jr. and his wife, Tracy, and Rebecca Kight; two
great-granddaughters, Emma and Kelsey; sisters-in-law, Jeanette Morgan and Robbie
Rahn; brother-in-law, Alfred and his wife Grace Rahn; double first cousins, Robert Lynch
and his wife Imogene; many nieces, nephews, and countless treasured friends;
step-granddaughter, Sonja and her husband Joey Robinson; step-great-grandchildren,
Taylor, Chase, and Madison Robinson; step-grandsons, Craig Oglesby, Cameron and
Jared Wiggins; also the Beasley family from Pembroke, GA.
Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at North Salem Baptist Church. Mr. Hodges
will lie in state from 10 a.m.
Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
