Zachary Francis Edel, 24, of Rincon, GA, passed away on January 31 st of 2018 in Rincon, GA.
Visitation will be held from 5:00pm to 8:00 pm, Friday, February 16, 2018 at Strickland's Funeral Home located at 2460 Highway 21 South, Rincon, GA, 31326.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Saturday, February 17, 2018 at Countryside Baptist Church located at 1201 Noel C Conaway Rd, Guyton, GA 31312 with the Rev. Dr. Robert LeFavi of Bethal Lutheran Church, officiating.
Zachary Francis Edel, was born in Marietta, GA on March 11 th of 1993. He was larger than life and touched so many hearts worldwide; his smile lit up all our lives even in our darkest hours. Zack helped so many with addiction, he encouraged everyone with his passion to help humanity, he strengthened us with his medical knowledge, and changed all our lives for the better! He was the friend everyone needed, the son and brother that most could only imagine, and all were blessed to have known Zack Edel!
He graduated from South Effingham High with honors. Zack then furthered his education at the University of Alabama majoring in Psychology and minoring in Biology. He graduated from Alabama with the distinction of Magna Cum Laude. ROLL TIDE!
Zack was passionate about baseball, more particularly shortstop. He started at an early age with the Cardinals in East Cobb, moving on to the River Dawgs and Chain Baseball. Zack played four years of Baseball for the South Effingham Mustangs. He then moved on to play for the University of Alabama.
Zachary Francis Edel is survived by his parents, Sophia and Jonathan Pfohl, his father and stepmother, Francis and Wendy Edel, his brother, Nicholas and Christina Edel and half sister Ashley Edel. He was a magnificent grandson of Peggy Baines, Joann (late Robert) McCaig, and the late Judith and Albert Edel. He was the great grandson of the late Joann Benedict. Zack leaves behind the love of his life, sweet Alexandra Hulsey.
