Zack Alex Doss, Sr.
Springfield- Zack Alex Doss, Sr., 73, died Friday, January 13, 2017 at Memorial Health.
Zack was orphaned at a young age. Living an unfair childhood. He made his way to the Marine Corp and settled in Savannah, GA.
Zack was a loving husband, father and family man. He was also a loving, caring and faithful friend to all he knew. The loves of his life were his wife of 46 years, Sara Doss, his children, Zack Alex Doss Jr., Chris Doss and his adoptive daughter, Kelley Jeans. He took in several children when they had nowhere else to go. He had a way about him that simply drew in others.
He had his personal passions as well, his unfailing faith in Christ; hunting, fishing, camping and coaching. His years as a Scout Master of Troop 25 gave him an opportunity to help young boys become men.
Zack was a business man, owning thriving trucking companies for many years among many other business ventures. He retired from Fort Howard Paper Company and enjoyed his retirement very much.
He is survived by his son, Alex Doss (Susan); daughter, Chris Doss; brother, David Doss; step-daughter, Fran Wagner; daughter-in-law, Pam Wagner; grandchildren, Eddie, Christopher, Trey, Todd, and Christopher; 8 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 6-8 pm Tuesday, January 17, 2017 in the funeral home.
Funeral: 3 pm Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at The Baptist Church @ Ebenezer.
Interment: Springfield Annex
