Savannah-Mrs. Zelma Ardelia Patterson, 96, a Savannah resident for more than 20 years,
died Wednesday in her home. Born in Cyrene, Missouri, she grew up to become God's
servant. She was a Preacher at Assembly of God Church in Missouri. She constantly
believed in God and prayed daily. She kept her faith in God constantly and is now
rejoicing with her Lord at this time of our sorrow. She will be miserably missed by her
family. She was preceded in death by her late husband, Robert H. Patterson who passed
away in 1984; a daughter Cherry Pelham; a son, Robert H. Patterson, Jr.; granddaughter,
Heather Brooks and a great-grandson, D.J. Church.
Survivors include her daughters, Patricia Fernicola of Citrus Springs, FL and Judy
Patterson Glaspie of Savannah; son and daughter-in-law, Gordon and Sandy Patterson of
Ellabell; 19 grandchildren, including Tina and Oliver Wright of Pooler; grandson and
lifetime partner, Stephen and Christopher Patterson of Decatur and Larry Mills of
Jacksonville, FL; great-grandchildren, Kristina and Stefan Banks, Scarlett Dillard-Scott;
great-great-grandchildren, Robin Screen of Rincon, Kristian Newsam and Lillian Banks,
both of Savannah, Derrick Joseph Church of South Carolina, Daniel Church, III of
Pembroke and Dylan Manning Church of Midway.
The graveside funeral will be at 1 p.m. on Monday, October 6, 2008 at Love's Chapel
Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Glennville.
