Mrs. Zilla, J. Bazemore, age 73, of Hendersonville, NC, formerly of Savannah, passed away February 28, 2017. Zilla was born in Columbia, SC to the late Catherine Cowherd Jones and John Burns Jones, Sr. She was a career nurse in Savannah, serving at both St. Joseph's Candler Hospital, and Memorial Health for over 20 years. She was preceded in death by her husband of over 24 years, George Franklin Bazemore, Sr., a son, John Paul Bazemore, and a brother, J.B. Jones, Jr. She is survived by her son, Frank Bazemore, of Spartanburg, SC; granddaughter, Brenna Bazemore, of Savannah; brother, Phillip Jones, of Atlanta. A funeral service will be held Saturday, March 4, 9:30 AM, at the Thomas C. Strickland & Sons Funeral Home - West Chatham Chapel, with Rev. Larry Speir officiating. Pallbearers will be Gage Govero, Stevie Bennett, Paul Lester, and Paul Burk. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Abbey West. The family will receive friends Friday evening, 5:00 - 7:00 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to American Diabetes Association at www.diabetes.org.
