Zygmund John Saradinski

 August 17, 1936 to June 30, 2026

John “Ziggy“ Saradinski went on to be with the Lord on June 30th. He was a man who lived a long and interesting life. Born in Lodz , Poland in 1936, he was only three years old when he was orphaned. He was later taken by the Nazis and placed in the care of a German family. After the war, he was living in a displaced person‘s camp run by the Red Cross and given the choice of where to go. He picked the U.S. based on the kindness of the American Army soldiers that played music for him and shared their cornflake rations. He came to the U.S. and lived in Pennsylvania with a Polish-Italian family set up by the Catholic Church. He became a U.S. citizen and joined the U.S. military. That would start a career that lasted twenty- two years, with two years in the Army and twenty years in the Air Force from which he retired. During that time, he had opportunity to go back to Germany in the service and also served in Asia during the Vietnam war. He served with distinction while supporting operations against the North Vietnamese in Thailand. After retiring from the military, he settled in Savannah where his wife’s family was. He worked at the Post Office for thirty-three years and retired. He is a man who loved his family who always had a giving heart. He made sure no one went hungry because he knew what it was like to do without.

He is survived by his wife, Anna Lynn Saradinski to whom he was married for over sixty years, son Joseph Saradinski, daughter-in-law Tina Saradinski of Savannah, grandson‘s Marshall and Lawson, granddaughters Olivia and Adalee and reunited with granddaughter’s, Lauren and Evelyn in heaven.
